At the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The David and Roberta Logie Department of Textile and Fashion Arts stewards a broad diversity of textiles, tapestries, beadwork, sartorial creations, and ornate accessories. Global in scope, this collection represents art and design traditions from the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Africa.

In 1930, the MFA Boston established "the first curatorial department in any American museum devoted to textile arts." Presently, the collection embraces more than 30,000 objects. In this feature, we offer a window into the Asian holdings of the museum through a limited selection of woven arts, embroidery, and costumes deriving from China, Japan, and Indonesia.
