This month, Art of the Ancestors offers a mosaic reprise of four past features highlighting ‘essential,’ primarily sculptural, artworks to promote the finest documented creations of Dayak civilizations. These efforts are part of our ongoing work in progress as we gradually build an online resource base for connoisseurs, serious students, and curious explorers. Art of the Ancestors is grateful for the contributions of numerous leading and highly esteemed scholars to our platform to guide us in further navigating and understanding the sculptural arts of Borneo and, more broadly, Island Southeast Asia and beyond. We are indebted to these area studies experts for their linguistic skills, on-site experiences, and commitment to the pursuit of excellence.
