Michael Heppell

 
 

Michael Heppell learnt his anthropology at Oxford and the Australian National Universities. He has done fieldwork with three Borneo groups: the Iban in the Batang Ai', Sarawak, the Bidayuh in the Landak, Kalimantan Barat and the Buket in the Balui, Sarawak. His publications include A Black Reality; Black Out in Alice; Borneo and Beyond (with Robyn Maxwell); Iban Art, Sexual selection and severed heads; The Seductive Warp Thread, an evolutionary history of Ibanic weaving; and Communing with the Dark Side, Borneo's masks and masquerades.
